Wireless Networking
Cornell Hall has ubiquitous wireless coverage. This gives faculty, staff and students the ability to access network resources from virtually anywhere in the building. All you need is an 802.11a or 802.11g compliant wireless network interface card (NIC). If faculty or staff have a laptop or other mobile device and are interested in connecting over wireless, please contact Technology Services. If students are interested in wireless access, please contact Mizzou IT.
Under optimum conditions, wireless networking is only 10-50% (dependent on connection type) as fast as the connection to your desktop. While this will likely not be noticeable on web connections, it is not necessarily ideal for frequent large file access. For this reason, it is a good solution where portability is more important than performance. Please be aware that some areas of Cornell Hall do not have as strong of a signal as others and transfer rates may vary as a result. If you experience problems or have additional questions about wireless coverage, please contact Technology Services.
