John L. Carter is President of Nationwide Financial Distributors, Inc., the financial services arm for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. In this role, John leads the organization responsible for driving sales of financial services products, including 401k plans, life insurance, annuities and mutual funds, through financial advisors and Nationwide Insurance agencies. He also leads the effort to explore opportunities and drive sales in new markets. To support Nationwide Financial’s sales efforts, John also holds the responsibility for sales support, operations and customer service, as well as associate development. Prior to joining Nationwide Financial in 2005, John was responsible for wealth management and managed accounts distribution, and oversaw the sales of mutual funds, variable annuities and managed accounts at Prudential Financial. He has also held executive positions with UBS and the former Kidder Peabody. Currently, John serves on the board of the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) and is active in the regulatory and industry efforts to help consumers prepare for and live in retirement. He is also a board member of the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA). John holds a B.S. B. A. (Finance) from the University of Missouri.
