KATIE ESSING, SCSM, SCMD, is the Senior General Manager for The Mall in Columbia and Gateway Overlook in Columbia, Maryland, owned and managed by General Growth Properties. Previously, Katie was the Senior General Manager for Columbia and Capital Malls in Columbia, Missouri. Katie also has served as the Group Vice President of Marketing for General Growth, overseeing properties in Minnesota, Missouri, Kentucky, Michigan, Iowa, and Illinois. Before joining General Growth, Katie was a buyer for Famous Barr Department Stores, a division of May Company. She received her B.S.B.A. degree from the University of Missouri in 1996. Katie is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary. She enjoys spending time with her boys: husband, Blake and sons Alexander and Andrew. In 2007, she received the Trulaske College of Business's Recent Alumni Achievement Award.
