DENNIS BOYD attended MU on a full swimming scholarship, breaking school and Big Eight Conference records. He graduated with a BSBA and was honored as the outstanding business logistics student. After working in buying and traffic management for a large corporation in Oklahoma, Dennis returned to Columbia in 1977 to open his first retail store, Royal Waterbeds. His company was recognized by Inc. magazine as one of America's top 500 fastest growing privately held companies for five consecutive years (1983-1987). In 1989 Dennis received the U.S. Small Business Administration’s American Dream Award and in May 1990 was inducted into the Small Business Administration Hall of Fame. He is currently the President of three companies: The Bedroom Store, Boyd Specialty Sleep, and Accent Furniture. Dennis is an elected member of the Young President's Organization, an organization composed of company presidents in more than seventy countries who are committed to education and idea exchange.
