For All We Call Mizzou Campaign Continues

Two major gifts move college toward new capital campaign goal of $70 million

In September, MU announced that it had surpassed its $600 million goal for the For All We Call Mizzou capital campaign. In turn, the steering committee for the campaign along with Chancellor Brady Deaton announced that this historic fund-raising endeavor would continue for three more years with a new goal of $1 billion. This ambitious goal marks MU as one of only 24 public universities to conduct a $1 billion campaign.

The new goal for the College of Business has been set at $70 million. Thus, as of November 1, 2005,  the college needed to raise an additional $16 million in private support by the end of 2008.

Dean Walker said that the combination of state funding and private gifts allows the college to fulfill its mission through innovative, rigorous, and top-quality educational activities. According to Dean Walker, “Private support has allowed the college to excel in many key areas, ranging from bringing high-quality students and faculty to the college to providing students with a variety of professional development activities outside the classroom.”

During the past two months, the college has received two major gifts from notable alumni:

  • In January, the college announced the establishment of the Jeffrey E. Smith Institute of Real Estate, made possible by a gift from Jeff Smith, a 1972 business graduate. Read more

  • With a new gift from Harry and Ann Cornell, the college will create a student leadership program and fund enhancements for Cornell Hall. Read more
