Mark Burkhart, a College of Business alumnus (BS BA ’76), and Ken Evans, associate dean and Pinkney C. Walker Professor of Teaching Excellence, were among 18 outstanding faculty members and alumni who received the MU Alumni Association’s (MUAA) Faculty-Alumni Award for 2005. Established in 1968, the awards program brings recognition to individuals who have distinguished themselves through professional achievements, community involvement, and various forms of contributions to the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Mark Burkhart, President and CEO of Colliers Turley Martin Tucker | Burkhart is president and CEO of Colliers Turley Martin Tucker (CTMT) in St. Louis. He was commended for helping CTMT grow to become a leader in the management of commercial real estate in the Midwest. A member of the Strategic Development Board and Davenport Society, Burkhart is committed to the success of the College of Business and particularly to the professional development of Mizzou’s business students. He also played a pivotal role in establishing the CTMT Scholar, a position held by David West, professor of finance. CTMT is also one of the largest recruiters of MU business graduates.

Ken Evans, Associate Dean and Pinkney C. Walker Professor of Teaching Excellence | Evans was commended for providing undergraduate and graduate business students with collaborative education experiences with various business firms. Since joining MU in 1991, Evans has helped establish study-abroad programs as well as the Vasey Academy, which provides minority students with exposure to curricula and careers in business. He has also published numerous articles in national refereed journals. Currently, Evans is president of the American Marketing Association Academic Division and editor of the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management.
