Vita
I received a B.A. and M.B.A. in Management from the University of Missouri. While at Mizzou, I competed on the Track and Field team earning NCAA All-American honors in the 800 meters. Following graduation, I ran professionally for the New York Athletic Club and qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. These experienced influenced my interest in human motivation and team dynamics and directed my focus to the study of organizations.
My research centers on conflict and the management of that conflict. My dissertation investigates how negotiation behaviors of entrepreneurs impacts the performance of new ventures. A second stream of research focuses on conflict in groups and how various factors impact team dynamics. Another emphasis of my research entails conflict resolution, and looks specifically at techniques and mechanisms by which conflict is managed.
