“I am very pleased to have received this honor,” said Dr. West.
“I think it is a fine compliment for our college that our alumni are so supportive, and CTMT is a great illustration of this.”
Dr. West has been at MU for 38 years. During that time, he has instructed thousands of students and conducted research. He has also published three books and 50 research articles. In addition to this work, Dr. West has served as the chair of the Department of Finance, the department’s director of doctoral studies, and chair of the MU Faculty Council and the MU Research Council. All of these efforts have earned him honors including three national research awards, the College of Business’s Professor of the Year Award, and an MU Faculty-Alumni Award.
Outside of the university, Dr. West has also been highly involved. He served as the president of both the Midwest and Southern Finance Associations and as a consultant to various organizations including businesses, hospitals, and government groups.
CTMT has been a supporter of the College of Business for many years. They hire a large number of MU graduates every year. Several officers are MU graduates, and many of the heads of departments in the St. Louis facility graduated from MU. These alumni are still actively involved in the college of business on advisory boards. The firm has also sponsored numerous College of Business events including the Student Leadership Conference. Mark Burkhart, President and CEO of CTMT, is an MU business alumnus and is a member of the college’s national advisory group, the Strategic Development Board.
Burkhart said, “At CTMT, we recognize the value of the exceptional business education that Mizzou provides. We make a point of recruiting MU College of Business students and staying involved at the university.”
