Greeting from Dean Bruce Walker

Happy Thanksgiving! As all of us prepare to celebrate a wonderful custom that dates back to 1621 in the U.S., it indeed is an appropriate time for thanks giving. I and, more broadly, the College of Business at the University of Missouri-Columbia have much to be thankful for.

In particular, I am grateful for the bright and energetic students who give purpose to our daily work, the talented and dedicated colleagues in the college who stimulate and assist us in our professional activities, and the leaders of our university who provide valuable guidance and resources that are vital to fulfilling our educational mission. And I am immensely appreciative for the support and friendship provided by so many alumni and friends of MU’s business school.

In addition, other than my wonderful family, there is nothing I’m more thankful for than the fantastic, unmatched country in which we live. With the elections over, I hope that the focus will shift from "red and blue states" to the "red, white, and blue" and all that it stands for. Personally, I am incredibly grateful to live in a country that provides such a cornucopia of freedoms and opportunities that are accompanied by important responsibilities.

One such responsibility is to provide young (and some not-so-young) people with the opportunity for a high-quality education. Everyone who receives this issue of Mizzou Business Online contributes directly or indirectly to that endeavor, and I commend and thank you for doing so.

Some of the latest developments related to the college’s educational initiatives are described below. We are pleased to share them with you; I hope you enjoy reading about what's happening at Mizzou's business school. Happy Thanksgiving.
